Al-Balad Boutique Hotels

Nestled in the heart of Al-Balad, Jeddah’s UNESCO World Heritage district, this project embodies the seamless blend of history, culture, and modern hospitality. In collaboration with the Ministry of Culture, DAO undertook the restoration and adaptive reuse of four historic houses, transforming them into boutique hotels that celebrate the rich beauty and heritage of the Hijazi culture.

Each house tells a unique story, rooted in the legacy of the families who once lived there. By carefully preserving architectural details, from intricate wooden Roshan windows to timeless stone façades, these spaces have been thoughtfully reimagined to provide guests with an authentic, immersive experience. Every design decision pays homage to the Hijazi identity, embedding meaning in every corner—from curated interiors to atmospheric courtyards that invite moments of reflection.

This project stands as a milestone in enhancing the hospitality sector in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia. It offers travelers a boutique experience unmatched elsewhere, where luxury meets cultural authenticity, allowing visitors to connect deeply with the soul of Al-Balad.
