Challenge
The Qasba Master Plan was envisioned as an integrated urban development on Al-Mamzar Island, requiring a careful balance between tradition and modernity. The project needed to create a vibrant, mixed-use destination while preserving the cultural identity of Sharjah and maximizing the site’s natural and urban assets.
Approach
The master plan introduced a civic spine that connects key landmarks, including the Grand Mosque area, to create a coherent and pedestrian-friendly environment. Inspired by traditional Arab urban patterns, the plan focused on creating lively public spaces, integrating commercial, cultural, and residential elements, and ensuring sustainability in infrastructure and mobility solutions.
Impact
By blending contemporary urban design with Sharjah’s architectural heritage, the Qasba Master Plan set a benchmark for sustainable and culturally rooted developments. The project established a distinctive lifestyle destination that promotes social interaction, economic vitality, and environmental responsibility, reinforcing Sharjah’s identity as a forward-thinking yet tradition-conscious city.
