Challenge

The project aimed to revitalize Souq Bab Al Madina in Zarqa, a historically significant yet underutilized urban space. The challenge was to develop a master plan that preserves the souq’s cultural identity while enhancing its commercial viability and accessibility.


Approach

The concept master plan focused on improving pedestrian flow, integrating modern retail strategies, and maintaining the architectural character of the souq. The design approach balanced traditional marketplace elements with contemporary urban interventions, ensuring a vibrant and dynamic space for traders, visitors, and residents.


Impact

The revitalized souq was envisioned as a commercial and cultural hub, strengthening the local economy and enhancing Zarqa’s urban fabric. The project contributed to preserving the city's heritage while fostering economic growth and social engagement through improved infrastructure and spatial organization.
